Claire Brown recovered nicely from a tough finish at the PIAA Foundation Invitational to lead her Villa Maria team to another big win. Claire ran 17:32 for 3 miles to finish 3rd at McQuaid and record her 7th top five finish in her last 8 invitational appearances. She is the only PA runner to break 18 minutes for 3 miles, and one of two runners to break 18 minutes at 3 miles or 5000 meters in all of 2015!

It's starting to look like a runaway for Pennsbury and their quest for another AAA state championship. At Friday's Paul Short Run, Pennsbury scored an incredible 66 points in a field of 45 teams to cruise to the Brown race title by 132 points over nearest rivals Cardinal O'Hara. The top seven all finished in the top 40 overall in a field of over 360 runners!

A very tough call this week, as three athletes could all give a legitimate claim to the award. But for this week, the award will go to Matt Kravitz of North Pocono for his runner up performance at Paul Short. The senior ran 15:36 to snatch 2nd place from Griffin Mackey and record his best finish at a major invitational for the 2nd week in a row. He's not sitting at PA#2 for the 2015 season!

Team

A new team has emerged in AAA to contend for a top five place at states in five weeks. Hempfield from District 3 recorded one of their biggest victories for a long time by winning the Paul Short Run Brown race. They had five runners in the top 51 overall and they had a 1-5 spread of 37 seconds to score 164 points and win by 58 points in a field of 42 teams!
