BOYS RECAP

Abington wasted no time Saturday dropping some speed. The Ghosts crushed the field early and often in the 4x800, winning in 8:05. Not bad for a solo effort and lap traffic.

The mile lived up to the hype in a race between a host of worthy competitors. Alex Milligan of State College took the win in 4:26 in a tight, somewhat tactical race. He held off Methacton's Jeff Kirshenbaum who made a nice comeback after leading in the early going to take second in 4:27.14.

In a great finish in the 400 meters, Penn Wood's Ndiaga Seck out-leaned Cumberland Valley's Kier Miner for the win. Seck ran a 50.57 to Miner's 50.59, both very solid flat track performances.

Souderton's Colin Harker continued his great season with another win, taking the 60 hurdles in a new PR of 8.31. That's good enough for a PA#4.

Anthony Maurent of GAR has also been on a tear this season. Maurent continued his improvement Saturday by bettering his own PA#1 in the 60 dash. Despite a scary fall at the end after a big lean, Maurent dusted himself off and enjoyed the moment. Maurent spoke with us afterwards:

The 800 was another good race. Mount Carmel's David Fletcher pulled away late to come away with the win in a time of 1:58.64 over Owen J. Roberts' Liam Conway, who also ran sub-2, going 1:59.21.

Downingtown East's Jeremy Jennings didn't get in the fast heat of the 200, but that didn't stop him from getting the win. Jennings' 22.47 beat out Austin Kratz' 22.83 and Gianni Lawrence's 22.99 for the win.

In the 3000, Nathan Henderson ran a PA#3  for the win. Henderson sat in the pack and pounced in the closing laps, pulling away for gold in 8:48.60. Liam Galligan of Springfield (Delco) was second in 8:51, improving on his 8:56 from earlier in the season.

Penn Wood won the 4x200 in 1:33.17 with Central Dauphin East taking second in 1:33.48.

The DMR proved to be one of the most exciting races of the day. Headed into the anchor legs, it looked like a race between State College and Neshaminy. Even headed into the final lap, it looked like a two team race. But then Matt Wisner of Carlisle seemingly came out of nowhere and led an incredible comeback to overtake the two in the home stretch to steal the win in a PA#6 10:39.24. Wisner then anchored the Carlisle 4x400 to second place. Cumberland Valley took the 4x4 win in 3:34. Wisner and his Carlisle DMR spoke with us after the meet:

Qayyim Ali of Williamsport broke open the high jump today. Ali cleared a PA#1 6-9 in the high jump. Ali cleared 6-7 last year and won a state title in AA with a 6-6, but this is a huge PR (indoor and outdoor) for him. Watch Ali's interview below:

In the pole vault, East Pennsboro Payton Morris beat out Red Lion's Greg Potter for the win. Morris cleared 14-6 to move him up to PA#5 (with Potter). Potter cleared 14-3 for second.

State College's Kellin Valentine kept us his stellar season, soaring past the 23 feet mark. Valentine jumped 23-1.75 for the win, extending his own stranglehold on the top ranking in PA. Brendan Sparr of Schuylkill Valley PR'd and took second place in a PA#4 22-3.
Cain Resch broke out with a big PA#7 in the shot put Saturday (Photo by Don Rich)

JP McCaskey's Cain Resch was a big winner in the shot put posting a PR of 54-5.25, a new PA#7.
