It's been a remarkable 2016 for Cheltenham's Chanel Brissett. And a few days before she toes the line for the USATF Junior National Outdoor Championships, the junior can add another feather in her cap: the Pennsylvania Gatorade Girls' Track & Field Athlete of the Year award.

The winners were announced Thursday, as Brissett joins an elite class of PA winners from the past.

Brissett won the state championship in the 60 meter hurdles indoors in a time of 8.25. Then she finished fourth at New Balance Nationals Indoor, bettering her state record with a time of 8.23. She was also second in the state indoors in the 60-meter dash.

Outdoors, Brissett was the state champion in the 100 hurdles, setting a new state meet record of 13.19. She followed that up with a national championship in the the event, running a 13.01 for the win against a very competitive field. That time stands as US#1. She was also apart of the state record breaking 4x100 meter relay team from Cheltenham.
