Relive Terrance Laird's Big Weekend at the AAU Region 2 Qualifier

If you didn't already know the name Terrance Laird, it's about time you got familiar with it.

Laird, who will be a senior next season at Coatesville emerged onto the sprint scene in a big way this past winter and spring. After a breakthrough indoor season that was cut short by injury, Laird came back with a big spring posting the state's fastest time in the 200 meters (22.30 in the prelims at the District 1 Championships). He was second to Ches-Mont rival Joshua McLemore of Downingtown West at the PIAA State Championships in the event.

But Laird got his redemption on McLemore this weekend at the AAU Region 2 Qualifier. First, Laird ran a big PA#1 in the 100 meters (an event he seldom contested this spring) with a 10.44 for the win. Watch that race below:

Then he squared off with McLemore in the 200 meter final. After a virtual tie at states, Laird was the clear winner this time, winning in a 21.48. Watch the Laird-McLemore rematch below:

Next for Laird is likely AAU Nationals in August. Looking ahead to his senior year, it's pretty clear to see who the state favorite in the 100 and 200 meters is.
