PTXC WEEKEND RECAP: Some notable performances headline Week 1 of the XC season

GIRLS RESULTS

Forest City Regional's Jennifer Korty came away with an impressive win to start off her season well on Saturday. The senior, who was sixth at this race a year ago, was much faster this time around, covering the course in 19:27 for the win. It's a huge 5K PR for her. Montrose freshman Hannah Perkins was second in 20:10. Holy Redeemer's Lindsey Williams was third across in 20:34.

Lake Lehman outdueled district rival Dallas for the team win, 82-94. Jace Garnick (12th overall) and Jade Fry (17th overall) led the way for L-L. Dallas, which were sans projected top girl Rebecca Balara, were led by senior Riley Oremus, who took tenth.

BOYS RESULTS

The Dallas boys started its AA state title defense off right with a big team win at Cliff Robbins. The champs from this meet in 2015 looked strong, scoring 42 points to take the win over second place Montrose (67 points).

Jack Zardecki won the race in a time of 16:52. That's the first career invite win. Dallas had two others in the top ten with Josh Wyandt (fifth) and Mitchell Rome (17:34). Berwick looked strong up front with some solid performances. Mason Kimball was second in 17:03 and Ty Fisher was fourth in 17:23. Berwick's Mitchell Martin was tenth 17:41. Holy Redeemer's Bryce Zapusek took third in 17:12.
