PTXC WEEKEND RECAP: PTXC 8 and Red, White & Blue Highlight First BIG Weekend of XC in PA

Bulldog XC Invitational @ Rosetree (Media, PA)

In his debut for Bishop Shanahan, Josh Hoey (third in PIAA-AAA last year) cruised to the win in the large schools division, running 16:42 for the win. Upper Darby's Syed Shah was impressive, taking second in 17:15, and Radnor's Peter Cooke took third in 17:25. The surprise of the afternoon were the Avon Grove boys, who scored 38 points to beat Shanahan by 30. Led by Noah Dusseau, Avon Grove had a 1-5 gap of just 23 seconds. 

In the boys small schools' race, Westtown's Ryan O'Donnell picked up his first career invite win, running 17:01. Wisahickon, with runner-up Ben Hoyer, won the team race with 40 points over Westtown (63 points).

In the girls large schools' race, it was all Isabel Cardi. The senior won her first career invite in convincing fashion, narrowly breaking 20 with a 19:59. Her teammate Taylor Barkdoll was second in 20:42, while Avon Grove's Molly Jacobs took third. Strath Haven won the team race with 40 points, 20 points better than second place Avon Grove.

Another runaway winner was Country Day of the Sacred Heart's Emma Seifried. The junior, who placed second in PIAA-A last season ra 20:26 to beat out second place Natalee Serwatka of Phoenixville. Villa Joseph Marie and its strong sophomore contingent won the team battle handily, scoring just 20 points. Katie Irelan was third to lead the way with teammate Abby Zwall placing fourth.
