VOTE: PA Athlete of the Week (12/16-12/22)

Layla Gentile (Germantown Academy) and Vinay Raman (Hershey) are this week's PA Athletes of the Week.

Gentile earns recognition for her impressive throw of 39-11.75 in the shot put to win the GA Shot Put Invite #1. Her effort ranks her PA No.1 and US No.27 in the event. 

Raman takes the crown on the boy's side after competing at Foot Locker Nationals to conclude PA's cross country season. He finished 31st in 16:21.70 over 5K on the historic Balboa park in San Diego, California. 

We're three weeks into the indoor season, with competition heating up. Each week- The PA MileSplit crew will nominate multiple athletes and allow you to vote for the best performance.

The Week's Boys Candidates:

Jesse Myers (State College) - Meyers was on fire last week, winning the 60m and 200m dashes at the State College HS Invitational. He ran 6.84 in the 60m, ranking PA No.1 and US No.8, and 21.36 in the 200m, ranking PA No.1 and US No.2. 

Tieren Mead (Central Bucks East) - Mead leaped to PA No.1 in the high jump, clearing 6-6.75 last weekend. He took second at the Armory Trials. 

Jack Brannon (West Chester Henderson) - Brannon took the 1-mile crown at the Coach Saint Invitational in 4:25.49, which was good enough for a new PA No.1 position. 

Tonovila Hicks (Springside Chestnut Hill) - Hicks ran a rapid 7.91 to win the 60m hurdles at the FasTrak Athletix High School Indoor meet. His time makes him PA No.1 and US No.2 in the 60m hurdles.

Lilyana Carlson (Bermudian Springs) - Carlson is getting the PA pole vault momentum going after clearing 12-7 to win the Dickinson College Holiday HS Invite. She's now PA No.1 and US No.5 in the pole vault. 

Amirah Nesmith (Cheltenham) - Nesmith blazed her way to a new PA No.1 in the 60m dash, running 7.69 to win the DVGTCA Meet. 

Destini Smith (Souderton Area) - Smith jumped an impressive 40-1 to win the triple jump at the DVGTCA Meet. She takes over as PA No.1 and US No.6. 

Kira Moses (Pennsbury) - Moses launched the shot put to a PA No.2 mark of 38-4.25. Her effort won the DVGTCA Meet.
