Boys' Top 5 Class-A Teams
PLACE | TEAM | COMMENTS |
---|---|---|
1 | Winchester Thurston | After last year's disappointment at states, Thurston doesn't want that to happen again. They are incredibly strong up front with Tristan Forsythe, but have loads of depth that dominated at Mack Cooper this weekend even without their top guy. They'll be tough to beat. |
2 | Elk County Catholic | Zachary Wortman has developed into a possible Class-A individual title threat, while the rest of the team has displayed some great depth. Logan Hoffman, Isaac Wortman, Matthew Dippold, and Ben Hoffman aren't seperate by much. They were dominant at Bradford and Ridgway and hung well against strong competition at McQuaid and Red, White & Blue. |
3 | Seneca | District 10's top Class-A squad is led up front by the Myers brothers---Donovan and Phoenix. Phoeniz had an off day at McQuaid against many Class-A state contenders, but other than that, the team has been strong, beating AA Harbor Creek at Dirty Dawg this past weekend. |
4 | Montrose | New to Class-A in 2016, Montrose has been making its case as a serious contender. They were second to open up at Cliff Robbins and won at Owego (NY) and took third at McQuaid (when ECC was second). They are a team to watch out of District 2. |
5 | Northeast Bradford | Second to NY's Watkins Glen at Owego and sixth at McQuaid in the "A" race. They were third in the state last year, and this squad could easily replicate that kind of performance this year. |
