Conestoga's Dominique Shultz hung back in the pack in the early going of the Central League Championships. She was waiting for her moment to pounce and it paid off.

Defending league champion Jamie Green of Ridley took out the race hard, her usual racing style, but Shultz opted to hang behind with some of the other contenders. After the final major hill at Rose Tree Park, Shultz made her move to the front and that turned out to be the winning move. She claimed the Central League title in 19:01, much faster than a year ago when she was fourth in 19:28. Shultz discussed her race strategy in her post-race interview:

Harriton's Tasha Greene was second in 19:11 and Strath Haven's Isabel Cardi took third in 19:27. Green mound up fourth in 19:31. The trio of Shultz, Greene and Cardi were neck-and-neck at about the two mile mark when Shultz made her decisive move.

Strath Haven put together a great team effort to win the meet and earn a share of the Central League title with Conestoga. 'Stoga beat Haven in a dual meet this season, but Strath Haven was the much better team on Saturday, putting four in the top ten. After team leader Cardi, Taylor Barkdoll was fifth, Abby Loiselle was sixth and Maddie Forbes was seventh. They scored just 34 points on the day.
