DVGTCA Indoor Meet #1

We're back Lehigh's Philip Rauch Fieldhouse for the first time this winter for a high school meet, as the girls of the Delaware Valley look to start strong. There are a few debuts that we will be keeping our eyes on. This article has been edited to reflect new entries.

SPRINTS/HURDLES: The 400 meters will see a rematch from another meet this week, but in a different event. Springside Chestnut Hill's Alexandria Kitchell beat out Cheltenham's Alexis Crosby in the 800 meters. Now the two will step down in distance to the 400 for what should be another close one. There's some fire power in the 200 meters with Cheltenham's Bria Barnes, Central Bucks South's Lydia Fielding, Norristown's Siani Sanders, Central Bucks East's Meghan Shewbrooks among some others.

In the 60 dash, Norristown's Jonae Cook will matchup with Cheltenham's Brielle Lewis and Coatesville's Porsha Miles. In the 60 hurdles, the ones to watch are Upper Dublin's Madison Langley-Walker, Plymouth Whitemarsh's Ayana Tull, Council Rock South's Elke Knecht, and Exeter's Symone Foster. This will be Langley-Walker's first hurdles race competing for her new team. In the 600 meters, Springfield's Sydni Stovall is the top seed.

DISTANCE: Downingtown West's Emma Planck steps down from her primary race to the 800 meters. Her and Great Valley's Amy Willig will make for what should be a competitive half mile. Baldwin School's Myla Barnett is also in the field. Penn Wood's Terri Turner will be the strong favorite in the 1000 meters. There's a strong field in the mile that includes Harriton's Tasha Greene, Souderton's Emily Bonaventure, Central Bucks West's Megan Kolbe, and Strath Haven's Isabel Cardi. All three had very strong XC seasons.

FIELD: Fresh off a big season debut at Ursinus last weekend, Perkiomen Valley's Christina Warren returns. She'll contest the triple jump, going up against Langley-Walker, who is also entered in the long jump and hurdles.Souderton's Moira O'Malley will debut in her senior season. The reigning state champion in the high jump will be the favorite in that event on Friday night. In the long jump, Imhotep's Avani Dorsey and North Penn's Natalie Kwortnik will go for the upset over Langley-Walker, the reigning state champ. In the shot put, Abington's Sianni McLeod is the top seed.
