SPIRE Scholastic Meet #3 Recap

COMPLETE RESULTS

Ryan Thrush is a new state leader in the 800 meters. The Brookville senior dropped a 1:54.43, a new PA#1, narrowly beating out Josh Hoey's previous state leader by .07. That's also a US#6 for Thrush, who is rounding into form nicely at the right time. He also ran 23.30 for fifth overall in the 200 meters to cap off a big night.

In the girls' 1600 meters, Lauren Finikiotis of Oakland Catholic took the win in a time of 5:08.81, a new indoor PR. Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic's Rylee Kopchak took third in the race in a time of 5:14.07. Greensburg Salem's Malia Anderson clocked a time of 2:21.55 to take second place in the 800 meters.

State College's Taylor Givens finished second overall in the long jump, leaping 17-2. Canon McMilan's Chyna Beck took the win in the triple jump with a leap of 35-1. She also placed fifth in the 200 meters in a time of 26.22.

Bradford Area's John Eakin won the shot put with a throw of 53-4, which happens to be a huge PR for the junior and a PA#19.

For Greensburg Salem, Mark Brown pulled off a nice double. He ran 4:31 for fifth in the 1600 meters, then also ran 9:50 for another fifth place finish in the 3200 meters.
