PTXC Weekend Wrap (Week 2)

Knoch Relays - Meet Recap

Knoch's Jordan Geist opened his season up in a big way on Saturday in the cold and wind of Saxonburg for his home invitational, the Knoch Relays. Geist had a big double in the throws, tossing a 74-2.5 in the shot put and a 195-8.5. That's just inches off his outdoor state record in the shot.

It's just the start of what figures to be yet another big season for the senior and Arizona signee. See what he had to say above.

Canon McMilan's Chyna Beck had a busy, yet productive first meet of the outdoor season. Beck won the triple jump with a best leap of 36-6.5 and the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 39.77. She was also apart of Canon Mac's winning 4x100, which clocked a time of 51.60. Watch an interview with Beck above.

It was a quite a day for the Butler girls, which racked up six (yes, six!) gold medals in the relays. Butler won the 4x200 (1:50.41), 4x400 (4:07.61), 4x800 (10:18.67), 1000m SMR (2:31.87),  1600m SMR (4:17.30), and DMR (13:31.74).

There was a good battle in the pole vault. Moniteau's Kendall Grossman and Butler's Taylor Weaver both cleared 11 feet, but Grossman had the advantage on Weaver on jumps. Watch an interview with the pair after the competition:

Butler's Jena Reinheimer claimed a pair of wins in the throws. Reinheimer won the shot put with a throw of 36-2 and then took first in the discus with a throw of 128-1.5, a PA#4.

Last we saw Quaker Valley's Zach Skolnekovich, he was racing at Foot Locker Nationals to close out his cross country season. Skolnekovich showed off some strong early season fitness, winning the 1600 meters in runaway fashion in some poor conditions. Skolnekovich went a PA#2 4:21.13, a sign f good things to come from one of AA's best this spring.

He was also apart of QV's winning DRM, which clocked in at 11:22.11.

We spoke with Skolnekovich after the race:

The Canon McMilan boys won the 4x100 (44.70), 4x400 (3:39.82), and 1000m SMR (2:11.63), while Butler won the 4x800 (8:41.63) and the 1600m SMR (3:49.22).
