Bruce Dallas Invitational - Meet Recap

GIRLS' RECAP

Hershey dropped a 9:36.71 to show off its mid-distance strength to win the 4x800 to start off the meet. That's good enough for the current PA#1. Those Hershey girls also picked up some wins in other distance events. Hannah Jones won the 800 meters in a time of 2:21.99 and Andrea Demko won the 3200 meters in 11:19 against a very talented field. Hershey also closed out the meet with a win in the 4x400 (4:13.10).

Harrisburg's Ty'Asia Dansbury got her season off to a great start. The senior won both the 200 meters (26.05) and the 400 meters (59.09) in a busy day. She spoke with us after her races:

State College's Jordan Rohrbach ran a PA#3 to win the 300 meter hurdles. Rohrbach clocked a time of 46.75.

In a good battle in the girls' pole vault, South Williamsport's Katie Jones edged out her VaultWorX teammate Mackenize Horn of Manheim Township. Both Jones and Horn cleared 12-6, but Jones had the advantage on jumps. Horn also took second in the 100 meter hurdles. Carlisle's Najae Nickerson ran 15.38 to win that hurdles race, making it two wins in two weeks for the senior.

Horn spoke with us afterwards:

Lower Dauphin's Karina Long beat out some strong competition in the girls' long jump. Long posted a career best of 18-6 in the cold conditions to take the win, proving she may be in an even better spot that last year, when she took fifth in AAA at the state meet. Long also won the triple jump with a leap of 36-11.

Palmyra's Camryn Simpson also PR'd big, jumping 18-0.5 for second and a PA#2. Waynesboro's Madeline Spears jumped 17-5 for third.

Lake Lehman's Emily Johns swept the throws in a big season-opening meet for her. Johns threw 125-4 in the discus to grab the win over Lewisburg Area's Kate Allred, who threw 120-9. Johns also won the shot put, throwing 39-5.5. Both throws are PA#5s for the senior and Harvard signee.

One of the day's more impressive performances came in the javelin. Millville's Morgan Bower threw 144-10, which broke the meet record and set a new PR. That's also a PA#2, not far off Maura Fiamoncini's state leader. Lampeter Strasburg's Kristen Herr also threw a nice PR. Herr's throw was 137-7 and she took second place with a new PA#4 throw.

BOYS' RECAP

East Pennsboro's Payton Morris continued his strong start to his outdoor season. Morris cleared 15-2 to win the pole vault and set a new meet record in the process. Morris now sits at PA#2 in the event.

The throws produced some good action. Greencastle-Antrim's Campbell Parker threw 181-9 to win the discus. That's a PA#2 behind just Jordan Geist. Manheim Township's Ben Viau took second to Parker in the disc, but he reversed his fortune in the shot put. Viau threw 53-7.5 for the win, a PA#7.

Lampeter Strasburg's Josh Eidemiller won and PR'd for a second straight week in the javelin. The junior threw 182-8, winning by nearly 30 feet. That puts him at PA#2 behind Richland's Ethan Dabbs.
