Altoona Igloo Invitational

There was plenty cold weather to go around at Saturday's aptly named  Altoona Igloo Invitational.

Bishop Carroll's Alyssa Martinazzi put down a nice PR in the long jump with a PA#3 18-0. That follows a 17-4 from a dual meet earlier in the week, so lookpout for the junior this season.

Hollidaysburg's Ali Wyland ran well in the cold, winning both the 100 meter and the 200 meters. In the 100, Wyland ran 12.48 in the finals, not much off her PR. That's also a new PA#1 in the event. She then ran 26.46 in the 200.

Kane Area's Trinity Clark threw 126-10 in the javelin for the win and Bishop Guilfoyle's Preslee Litzinger jumped 36-0 in the triple jump to grab the win.

Saint Marys Area's Tom Bojalad threw 54-6.5 in the shot put and 176-6 in the discus to win both events, starting his season off with some strong throws in spite of the conditions.

In a good battle in the boys' javelin, Richland's Ethan Dabbs outdueled Greater Latrobe's Austin Butler. Dabbs threw 185-1 to Butler's 180-7 to take the narrow win. Both jav throwers should be factors on the state scene this spring.

Hollidaysburg's Kyle Lindsay nabbed a pair of wins on the day, taking home golds in the long jump (21-1) and the high jump (6-2).
