ASD Invitational - Meet Preview

BOYS' PREVIEW

Souderton's Shamar Jenkins will look to keep up his great season in the jumps. Jenkins is entered and seeded first in the long jump and triple jump, so look for some more big jumps from the indoor TJ state champ.

Salisbury's John Reichenbach will look for a strong showing in the high jump. He's currently at PA#5 after clearing 6-6 at the FSU Relays down south.

Look for a good matchup in the hurdles between Souderton's Stephen Scott and Wilson Area's Job Goodman. They are both entered in the 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles, so expect some fast races there. Scott is currently tied for the top spot in the state in the 300s.

Pleasant Valley's Seth Slavin will make his invite debut on Saturday this season. He's entered in the 1600. Pottsville's Collin Ebling and Parkland's Sam Morgan (the reigning District 11 AAA champ in the event). We could see some quick times there.

In the 3200 meters, watch for Connor McMenamin, who had a huge meet at Rustin last week in the 1600 and 800. Southern Lehigh's Thomas Matsumura will look to provide a challenge there.

GIRLS' PREVIEW

No one's been jumping better this season than Pocono Mountain East's Khyasia Caldwell. The UVA-bound senior has jumped 19-10 and 19-11 in consecutive meets and she'll be chasing that 20 foot barrier this weekend in Allentown. The multi-time state champ has been on fire and is entered in the long jump.

Caldwell is also entered in the 100 meter dash, where she'll race Pocono Mountain West's Juanita Wiggins.

North Penn's Uche Nwogwugwu is entered in the 400 meters, an event where she ripped off a 54.87 at Jim Kelly last weekend after a 4x8 leg.. Nwogwugwu is also entered in the triple jump, an event she excels in, but didn't compete in during indoor because of a knee injury.

In the girls' 1600 meters, the two top seeds are both from North Penn with Ariana Gardizy and Mikaela Vlasic leading the charge. Northampton's Lyndsey Gallagher and Allentown Central Catholic's Emily Deschler are also entered. Vlasic is also entered in the 800 along with teammate Jenna Webb. Gardizy, meanwhile is also int he 3200 meters.
