LHU High School Classic - Meet Preview

BOYS' PREVIEW

Williamsport's Qayyim Ali is back again this weekend. The PA#1 high jumper will contest that very event on Friday, looking to get back above the seven feet mark. Ali is also the favorite to win the long jump. His teammate Stan Scott is also in the long jump and is seeded first in the triple jump.

The throws will bring the meet's best matchup, as Saint Marys Area's Tom Bojalad and Selinsgrove's Keith Dreese will go head-to-head in the shot put and discus. Bojalad is PA#8 in the discus, while Dreese is PA#7 in the shot put. In the javelin, Montoursville's Josh Dingus, who threw a PA#5 in the javelin at LHU last week, will return to the runway at LHU once again this week. PA#11 Jerry Lewis of Selinsgrove should provide a good challenge.

In the pole vault, watch for Altoona Area's Tyler Delozier is the one to watch. He's tied with eight others at PA#5, who have all cleared 14 feet this spring.

In the 800 meters, Williamsport's Tristan Connor will matchup with South Williamsport's Hunter Crawley, Mifflin County's Seth Phillips, and Central Cambria's Mike Walwro. Phillips is the top seed in the 400 meters. Mifflin County's Chayce Macknair is the top seed in the 1600 meters, but look for Bradford's Logan Caruso and Southern Columbia's Ethan Knoebel to challenge him. Macknair returns for the 3200 meters to race Milton Area's Tyler Leeser and Elk County Catholic's Zachary Wortman and Matthew Dippold.

GIRLS' PREVIEW

In the discus, Lewisburg Area's Kate Allred (PA#9) will take on Selinsgrove's Piper Klinger (PA#4) in what should be a good matchup. Both are also entered in the shot put, which also includes Elk County Catholic's Cassidy Cunningham. In the javelin, PA#3 Morgan Bower of Millville will go up against Mifflin County's Skylar Ciccolini (PA#7) will be the ones to watch.

James M. Coughlin's Madisyn Hawkins, who just jumped a PA#1 12-7.5 to win in Philadelphia, will be favored to win the pole vault.

Brooke McGriff of Bradford will go for the win in the 100 meter hurdles. Her Bradford teammate Ashton McGriff is entered in the 200 meters, but Selinsgrove's Megan Hoffman is the top seed there. General McLane's Katherine Fair will look for a strong effort in the 300 meter hurdles as the top seed.

There's plenty of talent in the 1600 meters. The Selinsgrove duo of Brittany Carnathan and Ashley Blair will take on Saint Joseph's Catholic's Sera Mazza. Look for some quick times there. Lewisburg's Olivia Martin is the top seed in the 800, while Daville's Marisa Maffei is seeded first in the 3200 meters.

Selinsgrove's Sara Arbogast is the top seed in the triple jump, while Pleasant Valley's Maddie Brandt will look for the win in the long jump.
