Henderson Invitational - Girls' Field Preview

While we talked about how Downingtown East's Evelyn Berecz and Perkiomen Valley's Christina Warren will battle it out in the hurdles, they'll also matchup in the jumps. Warren jumped a PA#1 39-8.75 last week at the Penn Relays to take fourth. She'll be looking to carry that momentum into Saturday as she will go for the 40 foot barrier, which she jumped during indoors. Berecz, meanwhile, sits at PA#4 in the triple.

In the long jump, Warren ranks fifth in PA, while Berecz is 19th. Can these two push each other to season bests in both events under the bright lights of Henderson?

The throws should be interesting. PA#4 Chloee Kleespies of Avon Grove has had a great spring season so far, capped off with a big throw past 43 feet at Unionville last week in the shot. She'll get competition in that event from Abington's Sianni McLeod (PA#9), Lake Lehman's Emily Johns, and Germantown Academy's Meaghan Toscano

Kleespies is also PA#4 in the discus and she'll be the favorite there on Saturday. But Johns, who sits at PA#8 after a big toss at Penn last week, will supply a good challenge. JP McCaskey's Aliyah Striver will make this one of the day's best events to watch for.

The high jump figures to be a close competition between West Chester East's Caroline Lewis, West Chester Henderson's Allison McGlynn, and Central Dauphin East's Justyn Roberts.

Phoenixville's Riley Kappensetin is the top seed in the javelin. Padua Academy's Camryn Snelling will be the one to beat in the pole vault.
