There's a new state leader in the javelin throw, and he now ranks second in the entire country.

Dummore's Gavin Darcy had a huge throw of 212-10 at the Robert Spagna Championship Meet in Scranton on Tuesday. It's a big PR for Darcy, who took 11th two weeks ago at the Penn Relays in the event. That 212 throw puts him atop the state leaderboard and US#2 behind just reigning national champ and Penn Relays winner Liam Christiansen of Academic Magnet in South Carolina.

Darcy had a tremendous series, which also included throws of 210-3 and 200-4. Jason Jablonowski of Carbondale took second with a throw of 181-1.

There were a number of other notable performances from the meet. North Pocono's Matt Slagus won both the shot put and discus with a pair of season bests. Slagus threw a PA#2 186-1 (behind only Jordan Geist in the state) and a PA#12 54-8.5 in the shot. Ky'Ron Harbin of Scranton took home the high jump win (PA#6 6-6) and the long jump win (PA#10 22-7). Wallenpaupack's Tyler Wirth was also a double winner, claiming victories in the 1600 (4:20.58) and the 800 (1:57.15).

On the girls' side, Abington Heights' Katie Dammer won both the 1600 (5:08.42) and the 3200 (PA#4 10:40.45). Lakeland's Madison Harding won a close race over Susquehanna Community's Skyla Wilson in the 300 meter hurdles. Harding ran a PA#11 (PA-AA#4) 45.25 for the win.
