AAA Boys' 4x400m Relay Preview

Ah, the final event of the meet.

There's never any shortage of craziness to close out a state meet and this final should have some big-time team title implications, just like last season. A number of teams come in with qualifying times right around the 3:20 mark, and it'll all be about who has what left in the tank.

St. Joseph's Prep is the top seed after winning District 12. With Miles Green on anchor, you know they're never out of it. Bishop Shanahan won the indoor state title in this event. They have plenty of strong legs to choose from and you have to figure Nate Alleyne will come out for the anchor leg (he wasn't even on Shanahan's D1 championship relay). Norwin has proven to have some good depth for the relay. The WPIAL champs pulled out a quick 3:20.24 last week for the win.

The current PA#1s come from Central Bucks West. They ran 3:17.84 as the fastest PA squad at the Penn Relays. Can they duplicate that performance Saturday afternoon? Abington, North Penn, Pennridge, and Penn Wood are among the other District 1 relays to watch for.

Penn Hills, Seneca Valley, and Greater Latrobe are among the other WPIAL teams to keep an eye on. Overbrook, William Allen, and Cumberland Valley will look to make a run at the finals.
