AAA Girls' Discus Preview
One of the most wide open fields in the throws this weekend in the AAA girls' discus. Four girls enter with season bests over 140 feet and it will be a matter of who brings their 'A' game when it matters most.
Bethlehem Catholic's Rachel Tanczos threw a big PR of 144-9 to capture the District 11 title over the weekend and has made herself the favorite for the state meet. It may take a similar performance, as a number of girls are hungry for that win. Red Lion's Madisen Kling, Butler's Jena Reinheimer, and Avon Grove's Chloee Kleespies are all coming off strong wins at their respective district meets and should put up a good fight at Ship.
We can't forget about North Pocono's Jessica Slagus, who placed second at states in AAA last season. The junior will look for a throw similar to the 136-7 that earned her a medal last season. Selinsgrove's Piper Klinger, Dover's Emily Eckard, and JP McCaskey's Aliyah Striver will look to contend for medals this weekend as well.
