AAA Boys' High Jump Preview

He may be seeded 25/25 this weekend, but don't let fool you. Williamsport's Qayyim Ali is the one to beat in the AAA high jump this weekend. The senior and recent FSU recruit has gone over seven feet on three occasions this spring, including a 7-1 PR at a dual meet. Ali won the state title as a sophomore, but slipped to third last season. He woud love to close out his prep career with another gold at states.

Penn Wood's Dennis Manyeah will look to challenge for the win. The 800/high jump hybrid has amazed us with his range his entire career. Manyeah cleared a best of 6-8 to win the District 1 title this past week. Look for Manyeah to try and grab his first career outdoor state medal in the high jump.

Bangor Area's Anthony Jones cleared a huge PR of 6-7 to win the District 11 title and he'll look to ride that momentum into states. Easton's Tawheed Muhammad was second at D11 and should factor in, too.

WPIAL champ Emmanuel Mitchell of Penn Hills will be in the conversation. So will Corry Area's Kodey Kusiak, Souderton's Shamar Jenkins, Delaware Valley's Shane Acoveno, Pittston's Paul Moska, Reading's Juan Mato-Segura, Chester's Braheem Bishop, and Carlisle's Deshawn Millington, among a host of others.
