Pennsylvania XC Week 1 Meets On Tap

Marty Uher Invitational - Meet Preview

BOYS PREVIEW

Phillip White, the West Virginia state XC champ from last season, will toe the line looking to grab an early season win against some good PA competition. But a number of boys will be looking to knock him off. Mount Lebanon has a strong squad that should challenge for a state berth out of District 7. Led by Bryce Brandenstein, Patrick Anderson, and Peter and Thomas Cosentino, it should make it tough on White and his University teammates. Those two squads will also be locked in a good race for the team title.

We also can't forget about Greensburg Salem, a solid team, led by Mark Brown and Cameron Binda. Both individuals should be in the mix near the front.

GIRLS PREVIEW

Up front, we should get a great battle for the individual win. Upper Saint Clair's Savannah Shaw comes in at PA#10 in our preseason rankings, but she'll face a stiff challenge from out-of-stater Tashala Turner of University High (West Virginia). Last we saw Shaw, she ran 4:53 to take fifth in AAA at the outdoor state meet. She'll be looking to start her season off on the right foot.

University High has a good deal of firepower after Turner. The team race will likely come down to University and Mount Lebanon with USC looking to get in the mix.
