Oakbourne Relays - Recap
The Downingtown West boys (Preseason PA#4) made a big statement on Friday afternoon at Stetson Middle School. In a meet where relay teams of two run two alternating full one miles, West took four of the top five relay duos in the meet. West's Peyton Sewell and Isaac Valderrabano combined to be the meet's top relay. The fastest individual was West Chester Henderson's Spencer Smucker (PA#4), who clocked miles of 4:55 and 4:52 (the only sub-5 times of the day).
On the girls' side, Conestoga's Dominique Shultz and Emily DeSantis took home the relay win for best duo. Shultz, who is Preseason PA#18, had the afternoon's best splits with 5:53 and 5:56 miles. But it was Unionville, the perennial District 1 power, that took home the team win with a combined 1:42:18 to beat out Conestoga.
