Girls' Recap

Warwick had a big day in the sprints. Let's start with the 100 meters that saw the squad take the top three spots. Leah Graybill led the way, blasting a PA#1 12.02 for the win. Lily Palacio-Lewis was second (PA#7 12.23 and Meghan Quinn was third (PA#10 12.36). Graybill was second in the 200 meters (PA#4 25.16) and Palacio-Lewis was third (26.15), but they were chasing Porsha Miles of Coatesville, who won in a PA#2 time of 25.06. Graybill also won the 400 meters in 57.88 (PA#5), making it a busy, yet successful day.

Sarah Crissman of Fleetwood Area captured the 800 meter win in 2:16.93, a new PA#5 time. Elizabethtown's Katie Locker was second in the 8, but earlier in the day, she captured the 1,600 meter win in 5:08.64 (PA#7).

Exeter's Symone Foster swept the hurdles on Saturday. She won the 100-meter hurdles in 14.48 (PA#2) and the 300-meter hurdles in 46.53. Both times are PRs for Foster, who should have a big season this spring. She also won the long jump with a leap of 17-07.5.

The Hershey girls ran well in the 4x800-meter relay, clocking a PA#3 time of 9:34.01 to take the win. 

Solanco's Anna Cooney posted a big PR in the shot put, winning with a PA#5 toss of 41-02.75. Hempfield's Carena Nottoli cleared 12-00 in the pole vault to take the win.


Boys' Recap

Eric Kirk of Coatesville took home the win in a fast 100 meters that saw four boys run under 11 seconds. Kirk clocked a 10.81 (PA#2) for the victory. Jeffrey Billig of Avon Grove ran 10.88 for second and a PA#5 time in a big breakthrough.

Ephrata continues to make noise. Its 4x800 meter relay squad became the first in PA under 8 minutes this spring, running 7:59.85 to take the win. Tyler Shue of Ephrata also ran 4:22.16 to win the 1,600 meters in a new PA#2 time. In the field, Elie Basenga cleared 6-08 in the high jump to move into the state lead.That's a three inch improvement on his best from last season.

The long jump produced some big leaps. Reigning AA state champ Brendan Sparr of Schuylkill Valley picked up the win with a jump of 23-09.5 to move into the PA#2 spot. Ezra Mellinger of Lampeter Strasburg took second with a PA#6 jump of 23-00 and Conestoga Valley's Jose Barbon was third (PA#7 22-10)

Warwick's Connor Shields ran a strong race in the 800 to win in a PA#10 time of 1:58.13.

Penn Manor's Taraje Whitfield kept rolling in the hurdles. He won both the 110s and the 300s on Saturday. Whitfield ran a PA#3 14.30 for the win in the high hurdles and added a 39.57 for the intermediate hurdle win.

J.P. McCaskey won both the 4x100 (PA#6 42.99) and the 4x400 (PA#5 3:24.97) in a day that showed off the squad's sprint depth.

Payton Morris of East Pennsboro won yet again on Saturday, clearing 15-09 for pole vault victory. He remains at PA#1 after his 16-00 from last week.

In the javelin, Penn Manor's Alexander Scheivert tossed a PA#2 throw of 191-06 to take the win. Fleetwood Area's Jeff Kline won a pair of throws events, winning the shot put (PA#3 54-08.25) and the discus (146-06).
