Hickory graduate Luke Lewis finished his high school career in some style in 2014 and MileSplit has recognized him for his fantastic season with an All American certificate! The Purdue bound shot putter finished the year ranked as the 7th best shot putter in the country and he got there the hard way. After an impressive start to the indoor season with his 61-3.25 mark in his first meet, Lewis would break the 60 foot barrier five times in his first seven appearances. Unfortunately, the PTFCA Indoor State meet did not go as planned and he missed out on the medals. In the spring, redemption was on his mind and he broke the 60 foot mark in all six outdoor competitions he entered in, including his lifetime best of 65-6.25, which ranks 6th in the country. After coming up short at previous state meets, Lewis achieved his goal and won the outdoor shot put state championship in AA to cap off his phenomenal career.
