The PCL lost one of its own 10/22-legendary John Sharp of Archbishop Wood - by Ira Josephs of the Philadelphia Inquirer

Seniors Amy Kelly (St. Hubert's) and Steve Hallinan (Cardinal O'Hara) ran their final races at Belmont Plateau, each winning their third consecutive Philadelphia Catholic League Championship. Kelly led her St. Hubert's team to their 2nd straight team title, going 18:57, while LaSalle used perfect pack running to hold off a late-charging Cardinal O'Hara squad to win by just a single point. Hallinan, running alone most of the race, was just two seconds off his course record 15:42, set in September at the Briarwood Invitational. Teammate Greg Thomas broke Hallinan's soph course record of 16:13, going 16:06 to take second overall.

LaSalle used the classic (but not necessarily easy to achieve) pack of placing five in the top 14 (6-8-9-11-14), led by Joe Fedorowicz in 6th in 16:46. LaSalle's win ended Cardinal O'hara's streak of XC titles at three, and their remarkable run of nine XC, Indoor and Outdoor PCL titles at nine. St. Hubert's pack was even more impressive, garnering just 29 points with scoring of 1-4-7-8-9. And just in case they were needed, they also took 12 and 13, which made the varsity seven All-Catholic. No small feat in the PCL.

St.Hubert's takes their 3rd straight PCL championship.

It was LaSalle's first PCL Championship since 1997.

Nothing unusual about goodwill in XC, but worth sharing from the PCL Champs: O'Hara's Mike Hushen and a Temple University trainer assist Graham Smialowski of Father Judge from the woods.
