Boys AA Recap: Hockenbury cruises to repeat win! Dallas surprise York Suburban for 1st ever title!

Like the Class A race that preceded it, the boys AA race was led from the gun by defending champion Dominic Hockenbury of Lake Lehman. The senior not only wanted to defend his championship, but he wanted to reach the goal of break 16 minutes on the difficult Hershey course. Like Mackey, Hockenbury's lead continued to grow at each major point of the course, and his performance impressed the crowd surrounding his path. Hockebury went through the Hershey course to record his fourth consecutive win on the layout and his 2nd state title in a row. To make the day even sweeter, he finished with the 3rd fastest time of the day in 15:49!

Zach Skolnekovich of Quaker Valley made a valiant effort to make it a respectable margin of victory for Hockenbury, finishing 2nd in 15:54. Matt Kravitz of North Pocono made it three under 16 minutes with his bronze medal time of 15:57. Will Kachman of Bedford was 4th in 16:07. 5th place went to Sam Signor of East Pennsboro in 16:20.

As for the team race, it could be placed in the upsets category. Defending champions York Suburban had the roles reversed on them in 2015. In 2014, they defeated a strong Grove City team that were on fire heading into the state final to snag the team championship. This year, they fell victim to a young Dallas squad, who placed two inside single digits and used a 47 second spread to become the new champions 96-104. The victory is the first ever state title for the Dallas boys program!

Bishop Shanahan proved that the tough lessons of 2014 were learned in 2015, and they earned 3rd place for their efforts with 151 points. Knoch was 4th with 181 points, and Grove City kept their place in the top five with 182 points.
