Weekend Wrap: Lavino, TFC#4, and Youngstown

TFCAofGP Indoor Meet #4 (Haverford College - Lutnick Center, Haverford, Pa.)

The 3000 meters, as expected, took centerstage. Neshaminy's Rusty Kujdych took home the gold and a new PA#1 8:48.60. He got the best of Methacton's Jeff Kirshenbaum, who ran a PA#2 8:49 for second. Souderton's Connor McMenamin and Eddie Goebel of LaSalle also ran well for third and fourth respectively.

LaSalle's Charles Headen stayed hot, winning the 55 meters in 6.71.

In the DMR, LaSalle enjoyed a PA#1 for a little while (until Lavino results came in). Still, their 10:42 blowout winning effort is impressive, setting them up well.

Edwin Lavino Relays (The Lawrenceville School - Lavino Fieldhouse, Lawrenceville, NJ)

Cross country state champion, Jake Brophy returned to action on Saturday at Lavino. The CB East senior anchored the Patriots PA#1-setting DMR to a 10:39. The finish was incredible (and you can watch it here, courtesy of NJ MileSplit). The team inlcuded Joshua Goetz, Sam Cooperman, and Ata Shahideh.

In the 4x200, Upper Dublin climbed to PA#4 with a nice 1:34.04, the fastest time of the meet. In the 4x400, Upper Dublin ran the second fastest PA time of 3:32.52, giving way to Bensalem, who took the win in a PA#3 3:31.63

The 4x800 was another highlight. The Central Bucks West team of Jake Claricurzio, Brian Iatarola, Carter Zerweck, and Rock Fortna went 8:06.85 for a PA#2 to win handily. Council Rock North finished second in 8:16.97 and Central Bucks East took third in 8:17.21 (PA#3 and #4, respectively).

In the long jump, Archbishop Ryan's Alison Jones leapt a PA#4 17-5 in the long jump to finish second overall.

Youngstown State HS Invitational #1 (Youngstown State - WATTS Indoor Track Facility, Youngstown, Oh.)

Seneca Valley's Mike Kolor pulled off an impressive double to win a pair of events in Ohio on Saturday. Kolor won the 800 in PA#2 1:56.12 and then won the mile in 4:18.63, just shy of his own PA#1. The Seneca Valley star is fit to say the least.

Micah Watts of West Mifflin has emerged onto the scene in a big way. The senior won the high jump and long jump in his first meet of the season. The long jump distance of 22-4 is good enough for a PA#2 just behind State College's Kellin Valentine, who jumped 22-10 on Thursday.

Kiski's Jace Roundtree ran the state's best time in the 60m hurdles, winning convincingly in 8.28.

McDowell's Caleb Sanford opened up his season nicely, taking the pole vault win at 15-0. Sanford takes over as the new PA#1 by 8 inches. Watch his post-meet interview below:

Dom Marshall of Hempfield was second in a competitive boys shot put. Marshall threw 57-7, behind winner Ben Peterson from Solon (Oh.). Evan Blaire of Hickory threw well too, a PA#3 56-10.
