The North Penn girls took down the state record in the 4x800-meter relay in a busy second day of compeititon at the Armory in New York City at New Balance Nationals Indoor on Saturday.
The "North Wales RC" team of Ariana Gardizy, Phoebe Clowser, Uche Nwogwugwu, and Mikaela Vlasic clocked a 9:05.98 for fifth place overall. That breaks Central Bucks South's record of 9:07.08 set at indoor nationals in 2014. It was somewhat of an unexpected record for the girls, but they're certainly happy. They spoke afterwards with MileSplit.
Wilson (3) also contested the 4x800 taking 18th place in a new PA#6 9:26.04.
The State College boys were just off the top all-time PA mark. The team of Owen Wing, Nick Feffer, Tony Degleris, and Alex Milligan took third place overall (second in their heat) running a 7:45.60. It just misses Central Bucks West's record of 7:45.06 from 2011, but is still a PA#3 all-time. Milligan anchored and drop a sick 1:52.58 official split. Look for big things popping out of this squad come outdoors.
Jordan Geist became a national champion, winning the shot put with a throw of 71-2.75. It's another 70+ performance that we've grown so accustom to out of the Knoch junior, but this is his first national champion. Now Geist turns his attention to outdoors where we can only expect more records to fall. Also in the shot put, Saint Marys Area's Tom Bojalad placed 15th with a throw of 56-11.25, while Hempfield's Dom Marshall was right behind him placing 16th with a throw of 55-10.75.
In the girls' shot put, Emily Stauffer picked up where she left off after her win at the state meet two weeks prior. The Cocalico senior threw 46-6.75 to take eighth overall. Neumann Goretti's Janese Lynch was 12th with a 43-10.5

Williamsport's Qayyim Ali placed fourth with a jump of 6-9 in the high jump. That matches his season best and it closes out a solid indoor season for Ali, who will look for big things in outdoor,
In the boys' championship pole vault, Hempfield's Hayden Fox jumped the best of the day from PA. He cleared 15-3.5 to place 14th overall. McDowell's Caleb Sanford jumped 14-9.5 for 20th, and Hatboro-Horsham's Nick Marino was 22nd with the same clearance.
Veronika Karpenko of State College was the top PA long jumper. Karpenko jumped 18-6.5 for 15th overall. Madison Langley-Walker of Cheltenham was 20th with a jump of 18-0.5.
