At Council Rock North, we get a nice early season reprieve from the traditional PIAA. Some District 1 boys teams will trade in the 300m hurdles, 1600, 3200 in favor of the 400m hurdles, 1500, and 3000 with an added 5000.

Abington returns after a big start to the season in the relays. They are entered in the 4x400 and 4x800, but some of their top athletes are in some open events, which I'll get to.

In the distance medley relay, look out for a good race between Central Bucks West and Neshaminy, with Cheltenham looking to challenge.

Methacton's Nick Shaffer will lead both the 100 and 200 meter fields. Abington's Isiah Smith will look to put up a fast early season time in the 400 meters.

The 800 will be one of the more compeititve events of the day. CB West's Rock Fortna comes in as the top seed, but his teammate Carter Zerwick, William Tennent's Matt Kraus, Abington's Jake Good and Keion Broadus, and Neshaminy's Rusty Kujdych make up a loaded field, where the PA#1 time will be in danger.

Council Rock North's Ben Heintz leads the 1,500 meters, while North's Ryan Campbell highlights the 3000 meters. The 5000 will match up Tennent's Sean Rahill with CB West's Brian Mass and Ben Smullen.

Jean S. Codio returns this week in the javelin after a big win last week at the PA Track Classic. Codio will also compete in the shot put as the top seed. Holy Ghost's Eric Kasperowicz will be favored in the discus after throwing 158-8 last season.

The high jump will be a good battle between Pennsbury's Eric Wacker, Pennridge's Matt Moyer, and the breakthrough performer from indoor states, Nolan Gromlich of CR North.

Tennent's Stephen Testa is the heavy favorite in the long jump, while CB West's Erik Metz will lead the triple jump.
