At last year's state meet, Athens' Breana Gambrell was a freshman mostly in the shadow of her older brother Jarred, who was a decorated track and field athlete. Now Gambrell returns as a sophomore and a defending state champion. She enters as the top seed, but her title defense won't be easy.

Annville-Cleona's Reagan Hess, a junior who was second in the long jump as a freshman and didn't compete at states last year, is the PA AA #1 headed into the state meet. Hess jumped 19-0 earlier in the season on the very runway she'll be competing on this weekend.

Salisbury's Lindsay Bauer is right there, too. Bauer has a season best jump of 18-7 and sits at PA AA #3 right behind Hess and Gambrell. A good day could put the 2015 bronze medalist at the top of the podium. Shenango's Miranda Schry has also jumped 18 feet this season and should factor in.

Imhoptep's Avani Dorsey, Villa Maria's Alexis Cadden, Wyomissing Trinity Ponton, and Seton-LaSalle's Raja Rutherford are among those who will be looking to threaten the favorites.
