Laurel's Jake Wilson came in as the seventh seed to a loaded AA boys' javelin. The field included PA#2 and US#5 August Cook of Bedford and PA#4 and US#7 Ethan Dabbs of Richland, in addition to Elk Lake's Hunter Watkins and Biglerville's Ben Hurda. Wilson's goal coming in was simply to medal.

But as the afternoon crept in on Shippensburg on Friday, Wilson found himself on top of the medal stand after unleashing a 195-3, just slightly off his PR, to grab the win. After finishing 21st in the state as a sophomore and 19th as a junior, Wilson will definitely take satisfaction in his big win as a senior.

Wilson waited as some of the nation's most talented javelin throwers stepped up trying to beat his leading mark of 195-3. No one did and Wilson claimed a state title.
