Affolder Set To Defend McQuaid Title and Course Record

Saturday's McQuaid Invitational features a few Pennsylvania talents, and though the numbers may not be high in PA attendees are concerned, PA always represents well in New York. This year should be no different.

The reason for that is Noah Affolder. The Carlisle senior broke the course record in the 51st edition of the McQuaid Invitational last season, blasting a 14:14.90 over three miles for the win and previous course record demolition before taking off to his homecoming dance. That was when he was a Carthage (NY) junior. He returns with his brother Sam Affolder to try and better his own course record.

A few other notable PA teams and individuals will also make the trip to New York. Villa Maria, fresh off a win in the Blue Race last week, will look to defend its title in the Seeded AA race in McQuaid. The Mercyhurst boys are in the "Seeded A" which should feature their top runner, Noah Curtin. In the Seeded A race are the Seneca boys, led by the Myers brothers.

Northeast Bradford, North East, Elk County Catholic, Bradford, and Canon-McMilan are among the other squads to keep an eye on.
