Pioneer Athletic Conference Recap
BOYS: Liam Conway knew the Spring Ford pack was on his tail. But the Owen J. Roberts' junior stayed composed and ran away with the PAC title, his first in XC after finishing second to Methacton's Jeff Kirshenbaum last year. Conway ran 16:21, 11 seconds faster than a year ago despite some warm weather at Heebner Park. Watch an interview with Conway below:
After Conway, it was Spring Ford domination. The defending league champs left no doubt about putting the next five across the line to score just 20 points to win. Shane Ainscoe was second in 16:31, Milan Sharma third in 16:37, Zach Smith fourth in 16:42, Patrick Power fifth in 16:48, and Jacob McKenna sixth in 16:49. Just an 18 second spread through five. Watch an interview with the Spring Ford 7:
Owen J. Roberts edged out Boyertown by a point for second. Sean Barone was seventh and Conor Murray was ninth behind Conway to lead OJR.
GIRLS: We figured the PAC Championship would be close on Thursday, by Perkiomen Valley made sure that neither te individual nor team races were as close as anticipated.
PV's Annie Glodek broke free before the mile and ran away with her third straight PAC title, running her best time at this meet, 18:48. She was 20 seconds ahead of Owen J. Roberts' Ally Brunton, who took second.
Perk Valley's Teaghan Scheinbecker ran a great race to finish third and Michele Daniels was fifth for Perk Valley, providing some key low sticks. Jocelyn Rotay (tenth) and Julia Dorley (eleventh) rounded out the top five for the champs, who scored 30 points to beat Owen J. Roberts (45 points) and Spring Ford (65 points). We spoke with the Perkiomen Valley varsity squad after the race:
Boyertown's Gillian Kasitz was fourth in 19:18 and Spring Ford's Gabriella Bamford was sixth in 19:27. Owen J. Roberts' Mary Bernotas and Autumn Sands were seventh and eighth respectively.
