New Balance Games Boys' Recap

The sprints took centerstage for the PA boys at the New Balance Games.

Imhotep Charter put down the performance of the day, putting down a crazy fast time in the 4x200 meter relay. After a 1:28.84 in the prelims, they clocked an incredible 1:27.55 in the finals. That shatters the previous meet record of 1:28.09 from 2004 and puts Imhotep at US#1. That time also isn't too far off the all-time state record of 1:27.13 held by Simon Gratz from 2005.

With a little over a month left in the season, it will be interesting to see if Imhotep can take down that PA#1 all-time mark. The team consisted of Ade Jones-Roundtree, Christopher Wells, Christian Brunson, and Kristian Marche.

They weren't the only team running fast in that 4x200. Coatesville went 1:29.01 for second. That's a PA#2 and a US#4. Coatesville's Terrance Laird also ran in the 55 meter dash, taking the win in a PA#2 in a time of 6.41. That takes down Christian Brissett's 2014 meet record.

The Bishop Shanahan boys continued to impress on Saturday as they have all season. In the 300 meters, Nate Alleyne claimed the win to better his own PA#1 in the event. Alleyne ran 34.71, which is also good enough for a US#7. St. Joe's Prep's Miles Green was third in 34.85 and Keegan Hughes was seventh in 35.48.

Shanahan then won the sprint medley relay, dropping a time of 3:35.06, a massive PA#1 and a US#7.

A few days after going PA#1 with a 15-6 in the pole vault, Nick Marino of Hatboro-Horsham returned and picked up another win. Marino cleared 15-0 to win the event on jumps, capping off a big week for the state leader.

Penn Wood's Dennis Manyeah picked up the win in the 600 meters, running a PA#3 1:23.58 for the win.

Penncrest's Avery Lederer went PA#1 in the 2 mile. Lederer clocked a time of 9:35.08 to take second in a big field. He also ran a 9:00.32 for 3000 meters en route to his 2 mile.

Tawheed Muhammad of Easton placed _ in the high jump with a clearance of 6-4 to take second overall. That's also a PA#6.

Abington was third in the 4x400 meter relay, slightly off its own PA#2 in the event. The Ghosts ran 3:25.58. Penn Wood was ninth in the 4x4.

Green of St. Joe's Prep also ran in the 55-meter hurdles. He took fifth overall in the finals in a time of 7.82.
