Cheltenham's Chanel Brissett and Bishop Shanahan's Josh Hoey are showing those in Florida the kind of firepower we have in Pennsylvania.
On day one at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, two of the states brightest stars showed plenty of early-season strength.
Brissett, who is the reigning champ and meet record holder, went 13.27 to make it to the finals of the 100 meter hurdles as the top qualifier by nearly a second. Brissett blew away the field in her prelim heat, which you can watch below:
Hoey took second in a loaded 800 meters that saw 26 guys go under two mintues. Hoey, the indoor state champion in the event, blasted a 1:51.91 to take runner-up honors behind Lakewood Ranch's John Rivera, who clocked a 1:50.38.
Watch Hoey's state-leading 800 meters below:
The action continues through the weekend and our friends at FLRunners.com will have all the coverage you'll need!
