Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Championships - Meet Recap
Easton and Parkland were separated by just four points in the both the girls' and biys' races at the EPC Championships on Tuesday. Only the winner was different in each race.
In the boys' race, Easton Area edged out Parkland for the EPC crown, 47-51. Stroudsburg was close, too, taking third with 63 points. Up front, Parkland's Riley Williamson, one of the District 11's revelations this season, came away with the individual win running 16:41 for the victory. Easton's Cosmo Cardone was second in 16:45 to lead the Rovers to the title.
This all sets up what will be an interesting battle next week for the D11-AAA title at the same course.
The Parkland girls showed they are ready for a big postseason. Parkland beat out Easton 72-76 for the EPC's top team honors. Allentown Central Catholic's Emily Deschler took home the individual win, running 19:31. That's Deschler's first major meet of the season, as she also plays on ACC's soccer team.
Deschler beat out Easton's Lauren Maddison, who was second in 19:32. Liberty's Belle Weikert was third in 19:40, and freshman Ava Bendetti led the way for the champion Parkland squad, taking fourth in 19:47.
