Friends School League Championships - Meet Recap
An eighth grader stole the show at Belmont Plateau on Tuesday.
Annika Marcelis of Germantown Friends School made her presence know, running 19:14 for the Friends Schools League title. She beat out a talented group of Friends' Central runners for the win.
Friends' Central's Rebecca Wusinich was second in 19:52, while Lydia Russell took second in 20:28 and Gabrielle Wilkinson took fourth in 20:59. Nadia Taranta rounded out the top five for Friends' Central, which took the team title with 30 points ahead of second place Germantown Friends (38 points).
On the boys' side, George School's Jeffrey Love ran away with the individual title, running 16:30 for the win. He was fourth in the Friends League a year ago.
The Germantown Friends boys took five of the next seven spots to easily win the team title with 24 points. Colin Riley was second in 17:04 and Tim Peterson was third in 17:14. Westtown's Ryan O'Donnell broke up the GFS pack with a fourth place finish, but GFS's Zach Goldberg was fifth and Alexander Blaylock took sixth.
Westtown was second in the team race with 58 points.
