12 Pennsylvania Individuals & Relays Making National Noise Already

Breana Gambrell (Athens Area) - Long Jump & Triple Jump

Gambrell doesn't always compete indoors, but when she does, it's usually BIG.

Outdoors, she's a three-time long jump state jump and one-time triple jump state champ. But the Athens Area senior and future Penn State Nittany Lion long jumped 19-5.5 in her first-ever indoor meet at nationals as a sophomore in 2016. Gambrell took fourth at indoor states as a junior. So, despite a lack of appearances, she's had a ton of success indoors.

This past weekend at The Armory, Gambrell showed she's ready for a huge senior season. She leapt 19-2 to take second in the long jump to NY star Lanae-Tava Thomas. Gambrell also triple jumped 38-2.5 for third place, a PA#2 and US#7.

With these big jumps being put down in December, we should expect to be in for a terrific January, February, and March. In the spring, she could even be primed to chase down her own long jump (NWI) state record of 20-8.5.
