James Races To A Pair Of PA#1s To Start Her Season

Lauryn James picked up right where she left off after the indoor season.

The Central senior had a breakthrough indoor season in the sprints and she kept it rolling it into the outdoor season on Saturday. James raced to a pair of wins and state-leading times in the 100 and 200 meters at the Pennsylvania Track Classic at Plymouth Whitemarsh.

James did so overcoming a freak hand injury she suffered in warmups. She went 12.26 in the prelims before the injury, which is a new PR and PA#1. In the finals, she came back to win in 12.39. Then she won the 200 meters in 25.57 after starting from a three-point stance. That was also good enough for a PA#1.

James is coming off a great indoor season that saw her take fourth at states in the 60 meters and sixth in the 200 meters. It was a huge improvement from her junior season.
