Despite taking the top two spots in the district last season, Northern Bedford was unable to overcome Windber Area's depth, as Windber took home the D5-A team title and that lone spot in the state meet. THis year, however, Northern Bedford looks to have the depth to pull off the win.
Up front, Ian Zimmerman has proven to be the class of D5. He earned an individual win at the Altoona Mt. Lion Invite over a strong field. The defending district champ will be the one to beat again on Tuesday. His teammate, Ian Sherlock (second last year at districts), will also be one to watch. Windber's Tyler Napora and Matthew Shank (third and fifth at districts last year, respectively) will look to mix it up near the front.
When Northern Bedford and Windber met this season at Altoona, NB placed seventh in the field with 235 points, while Windber was 14th with 346 points. Windber will look to reverse its fortune and return to Hershey as a team, but NB appears to be the team to beat.
