Donovan Sanders of Girard College was impressive in the 300 meters, running 34.95 to win the event overall. His time is a good enough for a PA#4 on the season and a sign that the 200/400 specialist is coming along nicely this winter.
Sanders also took second in the 55 meters in a PA#5 time of 6.54. The winner of that final, though, was Norristown's Austin Montgomery, who kept his strong winter season going. The junior went 6.52 for the win, not far off his state-leading time in the event from earlier in the season.
In the 4x200-meter relay, Norristown captured the win in the finals in 1:30.94, a PA#4 time. Upper Darby was second in the finals and went 1:30.94 in the finals, a PA#5.
Already the state leader in the 60-meter hurdles, Scott Honicker of Owen J. Roberts took over the state lead in the 55-meter hurdles, too, on Saturday. The senior took third in the finals of the event, running 7.85. In the prelims, however, Honicker ran his PA#1 of 7.67, meaning he now leads the state over both distances. Norristown's Ramir Wiggins (7.91) was fourth in the finals.
Speaking of the hurdles, the Strath Haven boys went PA#1 in the 55-meter shuttle hurdle relay. Haven went 31.95, also a US#25, for a convincing win.
In the invitational mile, Wallenpaupack's Tyler Wirth ran 4:21.62 for third overall. That time is a current PA#2 and just off Wirth's indoor PR in the event (4:20.37 from last year's indoor state meet).
In the 4x800, Penncrest showed some good depth, taking the win in 8:12.11 and moving up to PA#2 on the season. Holy Ghost ran a PA#6 time of 3:29.88 in the 4x400-meter relay to take third place. Owen J. Roberts was fourth in the DMR, running a PA#6 time of 10:48.70.
In the wright throw, Collin Burkhart of Nazareth Area placed third with a PA#4 toss of 56-10.
