Andersen Dimon was in no rush in the fastest section of the 400 meters at Saturday's TFCAofGP Meet of Champions.
Instead, the Pennridge senior was content to hang in second place through the opening lap. But once he made his move with about 100 meters to go just before the final turn, there was no stopping him. Dimon ran to the win in 48.41. He beat a talented field that included PA#2 Savion Hebron and PA#5 Gbarwho Flahn for the win.
That's the fastest time in Pennsylvania and the tenth fastest time in the nation this season, despite the fact that it came on a flat track at Lehigh University. It also shattered a 20-year-old meet record in the 400, which was formerly held by Chester's Bilal Motley. In 1999, Motley ran 48.90 at MOCs.
Dimon is the top seed in the 400 meters for Sunday's PTFCA Indoor State Championships, where he will look to earn his first career state title.
