Two of the state and nation's top high hurdlers when head-to-head for the first time this outdoor season, providing a nice precursor to what we'll likely see in the late postseason.
Jane Livingston of Conestoga Valley and Christina Warren of Perkiomen Valley, who both proved to be the top hurdlers during the indoor season, met at Henderson on Friday afternoon in the 100 meter hurdles final. Livingston captured the win in 13.71, not far off her own PA No. 1 time. Warren placed second in 13.85, a PA No. 2 time.
Livingston's season best and PR of 13.59 is an all-conditions US No. 8 this season. Warren's 13.85 is an all-conditions US No. 19. The two girls are the only girls in Pennsylvania that have broken 13 season. They are No. 6 and No. 10, respectively, in state history.
The pair raced a few times during the indoor season, with Livingston taking a close win for the state crown over Warren for the state title. We now head into the postseason, and the state's top high hurdlers are on a collusion course for the PIAA State Championships in Class AAA.
Surely, both seniors will be hungry for the state crown.
