Boys 1600m: Joshua Lewin (West Chester East) - 4:15.84
A year ago at the Henderson Invitational, Lewin, then a sophomore, posted a huge PR of 4:21 from the third of four section in the 1600 meters.
Fast forward to Friday, Lewin was in the fast heat of the 1600 meters at Henderson and the WC East junior produced a memorable encore. With a big kick, Lewin went from sixth to first in the final 200 meters to take the win in a loaded field. Earlier in the week, he went 49.30 in a dual meet in the 400 meters and he showed that speed in the closing meters, coming home to a 4:15.84, the fastest time in the state so far this season.
In a year that is proving to be relatively wide open in the 1600 meters, Lewin showed on Friday that he'll be a major factor in the state this month.
