Ciccolini Wins At Iron Wood Throws Classic

It's been a busy last few weeks for Mifflin County's Skylar Ciccolini.

Last weekend, the senior and University of Missouri signee won her second straight state title in the javelin throw. A few days later, she was named PTFCA Girls' Athlete of the Year. Then this past weekend in Couer d'Alene, Idahao, Ciccolini added another big win.

Ciccolini threw 170 feet even (51.83 meters) to win the javelin at the Iron Wood Throws Classic. That broke Ciccolini's own meet record from 2017 of 164-09 (50.24 meters). She did not compete at Iron Wood last week.  Her winning and record-breaking throw came on her final of 6 attempts.

Ciccolini's younger sister, Taylor Ciccolini placed fourth with a best throw of 145-9. At the outdoor state meet, Taylor Ciccolini, an up-and-comer in the javelin, placed third in Class AAA.

That gets a busy post-postseason going for Ciccolini, who is currently US No. 1 in the javelin for high schoolers, with her season best and PR of 184-02 from the Penn Relays. She is currently the top seed in the javelin for USATF U20 Championships, set for June 21-23 in Miramar, Florida. The top two finishers at that meet qualify for the Pan American U20 Championships, which will be held in San Jose, Costa Rica on July 19-21.
