Individuals Preview

Last year, Kileigh Kane ran to the District 6 title before taking second with a great race at the PIAA State Championships. Kane is off to Penn State, but State College will look to retain that individual title in D6-AAA.

State College's Jordan Reed was second to Kane in the district last year and placed 31st at the state meet. She ran 11:19 for 3200 meters this past spring and is in a good spot to compete for a state medal this fall.

Other SC runners Lizzie Gilpatrick, Mihret Strauss, Molly Solo, and Elly Haushalter are also back this year, and will be looking to make a run at the district title. These returners make up the Little Lions' solid depth.

Team Preview

Little should stand in the way of State College Area's run for another D6-AAA team title. Last year, SC scored the minimum 15 points to win the district title last year and placed third in Class AAA at the PIAA State Championships.

The Little Lions have always found ways to retool their squad to contend each season. With five varsity returners, State College has a good foundation back in 2019. State College has placed in the top five at the state meet in each of the last four years. Starting the season at PA No. 3, SC is in a good spot to make another strong run at Hershey.

In the battle for second place, 2018 runners-up Mifflin County will battle it out with Altoona Area and DuBois Area.
