Individuals Preview

With an epic kick for a second straight year, Lower Moreland's Shane Cohen captured the District 1 Class AA title. But now Cohen has graduated and the by who was on the unfortunate end of that kick -- Pope John Paul II's Jack Brosius -- is back and on the hunt for the individual district title. Second in the district and 112th in the state last year, Brosius is the one to beat in D1-AA.

After him, expect some of his PJP teammates to not be far behind. Fellow rising juniors Kaden Buchler and Jack Flynn were fifth and sixth int he district, respectively, last season. Those two will look to bridge the gap up to their leader.

The Pottsgrove duo of Simon Keen and Brandon Henriksen, and New Hope-Solebury's Christian Kruse are also ones to watch in D1-AA this fall.

Team Preview

Pope John Paul II is the team to beat in its quest for its third straight District 1 Class AA team title. Two boys from its varsity squad have graduated, but a strong core returns. Brosius is the one to beat individually, and Buchler and Flynn are a solid 2-3.

PJP will look to fill out the backend of its varsity squad, but this team is the heavy favorite in D1-AA and should be able to improve upon its 15th place finish from the state meet last year.

Pottsgrove, Lower Moreland, and New Hope-Solebury are among the teams that will look to add pieces to give PJP a run for its money in 2019.
