Loudoun Valley Sweeps Again: PTXC 11 Recap

PTXC 11 - Girls Gold Race Recap

Taryn Parks left no doubt about it again this season, rolling to the Gold Race win in a dominant effort to open up her season. The Greencastle-Antrim senior made her season debut, running 18:30 to defend her PTXC crown.

Parks took control of the race early and kept it going, running a solo effort for the last few miles. It wasn't as fast as her PTXC 10-winning time of 18:08, but Parks noted she's running more miles as this point of the season.

North Schuylkill's Cori McCormick started her season off well, taking second in 18:48, which is a 27-second improvement from her sixth place finish at PTXC 10. Loudoun Valley went 3-4 with Ava Gordon taking third in 18:50 and Ricky Fetterolf coming across fourth in 18:52. Neshaminy's Kaylee McCullough was fifth in 18:53 and Council Rock South's Marisa Kilgarriff took sixth in 19:02.

Loudoun Valley took the team title for a second straight season. After Gordon and Fetterolf, LV put three others in the top 20 to roll to the team victory.

Chambersburg was second, making a big statement in the squad's 5K season opener. Camryn Kiser, a freshman, led the way with an eighth place finish in 19:26 and three others placed in the top 20, as Chambersburg earned runner-up team honors. Cumberland Valley ran well to take third with 146 points.

Council Rock North was fourth with 195 points, closely followed by Council Rock South, Hershey and then Danbury (CT).
