Daiyaan Hawkins had a strong start to his senior season. The Haverford School senior and recent Temple football commit rolled to the win on Saturday at the TFCAofGP Meet #2 at Lehigh University.
In the 60 meter dash, Hawkins went 6.99 in the prelims and then unleashed a 6.94 in the finals, a new PA No. 2 performance. Only JP McCaskey's Dejon Manning has run faster this season. Manning went 6.93 at Kutztown on December 14.
Hawkins is now the second boy under 7 seconds this season. Last year as a junior, Hawkins went 6.86 -- a PR -- at the state meet in semis before placing fifth in a competitive final.

Hawkins held off Drew Gallen of West Chester Rustin for the win. Gallen ran 7.01 in that 60 final on Saturday, a PA No. 3 time. It's been a strong start to the season for Gallen, who scored wins at the Ursinus Invitational two weeks ago to open up his season.
It's early, but the sprints are already looking impressive across the state of Pennsylvania.
